National Pet Month!RSPCA ADMIN
We are now in National Pet Month which runs from 1st April to 3rd May. The month celebrates and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership and looks at the mutual benefits of living with pets – and there are lots!
Introducing a new rescue pet to your home will be exciting, rewarding and, at times, challenging, it may take quite a while for your new animal to settle into life with you, but don’t worry – a lot of people encounter some tricky bits with their new animal and remember you are not alone – the Martlesham Animal Team are here to support you.
Pets, especially dogs and cats, can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your health! Caring for an animal can help children grow up more secure and active. Pets also provide valuable companionship for older adults. A pet can add real joy and unconditional love to your life.
However, pet ownership is also a serious commitment with many important duties to consider that may not be immediately apparent – responsible pet ownership consists of more than simply feeding and playing with your pet. Anyone considering re-homing a pet should ensure that they can provide for all the welfare needs before taking on the responsibility.
