We have had to change our rehoming procedures as a result of COVID-19. If you are interested in a particular animal(s), please email us on reception.martlesham@rspca-ipswich.org.uk and we’ll send you an application form.
An RSPCA inspectors brought Jana to us, as part of a prosecution case, because her owner was not treating her properly. Jana is a very forgiving girl and despite her experiences, she still loves human companionship.
Jana has spent some time in foster with one of our kennel team members and enjoys most of her break in the home snoozing. She is a loving girl who prefers time with human friends, being given fuss and attention.
Jana is not keen on her canine counterparts so always wears a muzzle when she’s on her walks. Since being in our care she has and is continuing to receive training, so that she can focus on her handler and show alternative behaviours instead of reacting, this will make managing Jana easier when out and about and help her to feel more relaxed.
Her new family must ensure that she is always muzzled when she’s out and about and they will need to continue with her positive, reward-based training. A secure garden with high fencing is a must for Jana so that she has a safe space to explore and relax off lead. A household that is located in an area where there are not a lot of other dogs would really benefit Jana.
She is a very clever girl and learns quickly, especially if there is the promise of a tasty treat as reinforcement. She has been taking part in online training classes, whilst being in foster, which is fun for both Jana and her human caregiver. Jana is proof that an older dog can defiantly learn new tricks.
This beautiful girl deserves another chance of a good life in a kind, loving home where she can feel safe and happy.
