This is the latest news on how Covid-19 is affecting our Branch services.

This information will be updated as and when necessary, and any major changes to our services will be communicated via our social media channels as well.

Martlesham Animal Centre:

Our rehoming centre remains closed to the public, and we will continue to operate by appointment only for the foreseeable future.  This is so we are able to manage the number of people onsite at any one time and do our best to reduce the impact that the virus will have on the centre if our team are required to self-isolate.

Although restrictions have eased, we want everyone to continue to feel safe. If you’re visiting us at the animal centre, we’re asking you and our team to continue wearing a face covering and to keep a safe distance from others, wherever possible, so that we can do our best to prevent our animal centre from being forced to close due to sickness/requirement to self-isolate.

If you’re looking to re-home an animal, please visit our website and call us on 0300 999 7321 if you see someone you are interested in adopting.

We are now able to accept animals from the public.  If you need to rehome your pet, please call the centre  on 0300 999 7321 to discuss how we can help.

If you have another animal related emergency, please call 0300 1234 999. Lines are manned between 7am and 10pm.

If you have found injured or unwell wildlife, please call the National RSPCA Control Centre on 0300 1234 999.

Our Vet Clinic:

Our clinic remains open so that we can continue to help animals in need however we will be continuing with some restrictions to keep our customers, staff and vets as safe as possible.

The following provisions are in place:

  • We will open the door no earlier than 11.30am, you must have arrived by 1pm in order to see a vet.
  • 6 people will be allowed into our waiting room at any one time to ensure we comply with social distancing (only one person per pet).
  • There is a further marked out waiting area outside the Clinic (clients will be seen on a first come, first served basis). Please bear in mind if the weather is bad there is a limited sheltered waiting area.
  • For hygiene purposes there will only be a few chairs provided, if you require seating please notify one of the Clinic staff.
  • We ask all clients to wear a face covering (if they can) when attending the clinic so that we can do our best to prevent our clinic from being forced to close due to sickness/requirement to self-isolate
  • Vets may see you and your pet either inside or outside the consultation room. This is down to the individual preference of the vet on duty and/or yourself. Due to the consultation room needing to be secure to prevent escapees, we will be encouraging the use of outdoor space where practical.
  • Pets on long term medications can order repeat prescriptions providing their pet has been seen by the vet within the last 6 months, these can now be collected from the Clinic between 12 – 1pm on Tues and Fri, we will only post out medications for patients who are shielding.
  • If your pet has not seen a vet in the last six months and you need medical treatment you will need to bring your pet to the clinic for a health check and examination

Charity Shops

All 4 of our charity shops are open.

We are no longer required to quarantine donations, but thanks to the generosity of our supporters our shops are still receiving high volumes of donations so we are asking if you could please consider calling in advance to make sure the shop(s) have adequate storage space.  The shops can be contacted on the below numbers:

We continue to be amazed and truly touched by the offers of support we have received in these difficult times, to help us make sure our animals remain safe and well.

Our team:

We are taking the threat posed by COVID-19 extremely seriously.

We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation and will continue to follow advice from the UK Government. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, the public, and the animals in our care, is first and foremost.  We are taking all necessary steps to ensure we are able to protect their health and safety both now and in the future.

All staff members are being extra diligent in terms of self-care and personal hygiene and will self-isolate and call 111 if they experience symptoms or are pinged.

We are grateful to everyone for their patience and understanding at such a difficult time for us all.
