This is the latest news on how Covid-19 is affecting our Branch services

This information will be updated as and when necessary, and any major changes to our services will be communicated via our social media channels as well.

Martlesham Animal Centre:

The Animal Centre remains CLOSED to visitors however as we have now moved into Tier 2 we are able to return to rehoming with social distance guidelines observed and an appointment only system for adopters.

If you’re looking to re-home an animal, please visit our website www.ipswich-rspca.org.uk and call us on 0300 999 7321 if you see someone you are interested in adopting.

We are only taking in animals from the Inspectorate and so if you have an emergency situation, please call 0300 1234 999. Lines are manned between 7am and 10pm.

If you have found injured or unwell wildlife, please call the National RSPCA Control Centre on 0300 1234 999.  We are currently unable to accept wildlife into the animal centre.

Our Vet Clinic:

Our clinic will remain open so that we can continue to help animals in need however there are restrictions in place to ensure we comply with the COVID-Secure requirements.

The following provisions will be in place:

  • We will open the door no earlier than 11.30am, you must have arrived by 1pm in order to see a vet.
  • 3 people will be allowed into our waiting room at any one time to ensure we comply with social distancing (only one person per pet).
  • There is a further marked out waiting area outside the Clinic (clients will be seen on a first come, first served basis). Please bear in mind if the weather is bad there is a limited sheltered waiting area.
  • For hygiene purposes there will only be a few chairs provided, if you require seating please notify one of the Clinic staff.
  • We require all clients to wear a face covering when attending the clinic.
  • Pets on long term medications can order repeat prescriptions providing their pet has been seen by the vet within the last 6 months, these can now be collected from the Clinic between 12 – 1pm on Tues and Fri, we will only post out medications for patients who are shielding.
  • If your pet has not seen a vet in the last six months and you need medical treatment you will need to bring your pet to the clinic for a health check and examination

Charity Shops

All 4 of our charity shops have reopened today.  Opening hours vary from shop to shop, so please check on the website for their current opening hours prior to visiting.

If you have donations for any of our shops we would be most grateful if you could please call ahead to the shop you would like to drop them off at to make sure they have the space to accept them.

We’ve been truly touched by the offers of support we’ve received already this year in these difficult times, to help us make sure our animals remain safe and well.

Our team:

We are taking the threat posed by Covid-19 extremely seriously.

We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation and will continue to follow advice from the UK Government. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, the public, and the animals in our care, is first and foremost.  We are taking all necessary steps to ensure we are able to protect their health and safety both now and in the future.

We have also implemented the recommendations of Public Health England and will continue to ensure that all our animals are being well cared for at all times. All staff members are being extra diligent in terms of self-care and personal hygiene, and are encouraged to self-isolate and call 111 if they experience symptoms or come into contact with anyone they know or suspect may have the virus.
