Great Quiz Night result

And the results are in – our quiz night on Saturday raised a magnificent £795 for animals in our local area.

We had 15 teams in total, and the winners were U3A with an impressive 120 out of 130. Thank you all for coming.

A big thank you to Stephen, Mary, Ian and Jean for the catering, Gill for her sterling work as scorer, plus of course Geoffrey for writing the quiz and being Quizmaster on the night.

We would also like to thank Ray and Dawn who kindly donated the wine for the winning team and Dawn also for doing the raffle. Even more thanks to everyone who donated a raffle prize.

Student art project helps local animals

Year 7 students at Gorseland Primary School have been working hard to transform our very old, tired collection dogs into fun, colourful pieces! The students have done incredibly well, and their imagination and artistic talents can be seen in the main reception area of our animal rehoming centre in Martlesham.

The collection dogs we have around our centre help us to raise funds for our Branch so we can continue to help animals in need. Gorseland Primary School has supported this project and the students have put their all into creating the perfect attraction to help raise funds for animal in Ipswich and the surrounding area.

If you work with children and would like to get involved in similar projects, please contact our centre manager Zoe Barrett at martlesham@rspca-ipswich.org.uk to find out more.

Two Special New Children’s Stories for RSPCA Suffolk East & Ipswich!

Helen Lakey, who has been volunteering at our Felixstowe Charity Shop for over 10 years, has also found the time to write two children’s books in aid of our branch called “Plop! The Boy who saved the World” and “The Trainees go West”.

https://news.rspca.org.uk/2019/02/04/a-whole-new-story-helping-the-rspca-suffolk-east-ipswich-branch/

Helen lives in Felixstowe and is passionate about the environment and animals.   Having grown up on a farm in Suffolk and helped run a number of shops, she has a lot of experience to draw upon when thinking up her stories.  Helen is keen for her two new books to not only raise money for the branch but to also raise awareness for the branch and its vital work too.

Helen enjoys helping at our shop with the managers Cathie and Jo and the rest of the wonderful volunteer team.   She is busy working on the sequel to Plop!

Happy Quizzers!

We had a great time at our Branch Quiz in Martlesham on 10th November.

83 players (17 teams) took part and the winning team “I Said That” scored an amazing 111 out of 130 – well done to them.

The baked potato supper went down well on a chilly wet evening and, most importantly of all, we raised £761 for the Branch.

Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the event a success.

Keep an eye out for our Quiz dates for next year!

Result! Latest totals are in

Here are some results from our lovely volunteers taking the RSPCA stall to various fundraising events around the area.

We’ll kick things off with a completely new event – the Fun Dog Show at Castle Hill Park on 9th June. With a lovely atmosphere and even lovelier dogs, we raised a magnificent £115.

Whitworth Vets Fairy Tale themed Open Day and Fun Dog show on 8 July was, as always, a lively event and raised £86.75. Many thanks to Jean, Sue and Bekkie for running the stall and a huge thank you to Whitworth vets for inviting us and donating a share the takings from the gate, raffle and refreshments to our rebuild campaign, Project Winston.

On the same day, Stephen and Mary took a selection from the main stall to the Woodbridge Royal British Legion Centenary Commemoration of the Ending of WW1 and raised £34. Full marks to the band, standard bearers, performers and cadets for holding it all together on such a scorching day.

Martlesham Fete on 14 July raised an excellent £122.90. Many thanks to the organisers for putting on such an entertaining, friendly and well supported event and it was lovely to meet several dogs who had been adopted from the MAC.

The following day saw the stall at a new event for us, Old Newton Village Fayre. We raised £55.60 which wasn’t bad considering how hot it was and that we were in competition with the tennis and some football competition final. Many thanks to Becky for her help on the day.

All the monies raised go directly to helping animals in our local area.

Fabulous final figure for feel-good Family Fun Day

Well the results are in and what a fabulous day we all had at our Family Fun Day. The sun shone, the crowds flocked and the total was awesome. We took £3638.50 on the day – an amazing 20% increase on last year’s total. Many thanks to everyone who came.

Congratulations to Zoe and the team for all their hard work, and a huge thank you to all our volunteers who assisted on the day. We certainly couldn’t do it without you.

Keep an eye out for more info on our next on-site event, our Open Day and Fun Dog Show on 2nd September.
